About

A clear vision for patient care

Corvue Ophthalmology and Laser Eye Centre was founded by corneal surgeon Dr. Mark Fava, who has built his practice on three important values: being open, collaborative and a fierce advocate for whatever will help patients. Whether you’ve been referred for corneal surgery or are considering a bladeless LASIK procedure, we hope this information on Dr. Mark Fava and his state-of-the-art clinic in Hamilton give you comfort and confidence that your eyes are in the right hands.

Meet Dr. Fava

As a corneal surgeon, Dr. Mark Fava welcomes complex, difficult cases. He has preserved the sight of a baby with metal shards embedded in her eye, helped a professional athlete up his game without contacts, and performed the corneal transplants that allowed a man, once blind in both eyes to regain his license and his independence.

Dr. Fava’s training reflects the depth of his surgical work. After earning his Bachelor of Science at McMaster University and his medical degree from Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, he completed his ophthalmology residency at Queen’s University. He went on to receive the prestigious E. A. Baker Foundation Fellowship from the CNIB, advancing his expertise in corneal and refractive surgery.

Today, Dr. Fava is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC), a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at McMaster University, where he also serves as Director of the Ophthalmology Residency Training Program. He maintains surgical privileges across Hamilton hospitals, including St. Joseph’s Healthcare and Hamilton Health Sciences, ensuring that patients in both community and tertiary-care settings benefit from his skills.

Beyond the operating room, Dr. Fava is co-editor of Cornea and Refractive Atlas of Clinical Wisdom and has published peer-reviewed research in leading journals. His work with the CNIB Eye Van brings advanced eye care to remote communities across northern Ontario, reflecting his belief that everyone deserves the chance to see clearly.

At Corvue, patients can expect the same level of precision and commitment whether they need advanced corneal surgery or are simply tired of glasses.

The clinic

Our clinic on Hamilton's east escarpment features a full suite of state-of-the-art technology used for diagnosis, treatment and post-op care for out-patient corneal procedures, hospital patient follow-up, and laser vision correction. (If you're considering Lasik and are doing your homework, we have the iLASIK wavefront-guided blade-free system.) But technology is only as good as the hands it's in. All assessments and procedures at our clinic are performed by corneal specialist Dr. Mark Fava.
